USCMO Meets with Embassy of Myanmar, Ambassador U Aung Lynn

On September 13th USCMO met with Embassy of Myanmar’s Ambassador U Aung Lynn. USCMO delegation conducted intensive, direct dialogue with Myanmar officials through its U.S. Embassy throughout September, October, and November. Obvious differences exist on the Rohingya genocide between Myanmar and the USCMO. The delegation articulated in the most direct and unsparing terms their positions on Myanmar’s assault on and persecution of the Rohingya people. The meeting with Ambassador U Aung Lynn focused on authorizing a USCMO humanitarian-focused delegation to meet with the Rohingya in Myanmar and to establish secure relief centers there on behalf of American Muslim relief organizations. In addition, the parties agreed to establish an embassy liaison to keep open channels of communication between USCMO and Myanmar authorities, which is now in place. Its primary purpose is to attain approval for USCMO delegation’s proposed humanitarian fact-finding visit and relief work authorization. The contact and dialogue with Ambassador Lynn in this regard are ongoing and frequent. It is imperative that Muslim nations and organizations augment the campaign to restore the Rohingya to their rightful homes with full civil, political, and human rights by mobilizing a coordinated, heightening political response to Myanmar.
