USCMO is very involved in advocating for important and urgent matters that affect the Muslim community in the United States and abroad. USCMO feels it is of utmost importance to address urgent crises occurring to Muslims the world because many members of our community still have immediate family members in these areas. Furthermore, the US foreign policy is sometimes a factor in these urgent matters or can be an influence in helping alleviate the problem, especially human rights and religious violations, and discrimination.
This collective effort allows USCMO to have a credible presence in important discussions and meetings at the United Nations, European Union, US state Department, members of Congress and other foreign diplomatic missions. During these meetings, USCMO exerts pressure, states the Muslim point of view, and contributes to discussions to help fine solutions. Some important issues discussed to-date include:
- – Syria
- – Yemen
- – Palestine
- – Egypt
- – Iraq
- – Afghanistan
