Louisville International Airport renamed for Muhammad Ali

USCMO celebrates the renaming of Louisville Airport to honor boxing legend and Louisville native Muhammad Ali. The new name: Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport.

We would like to thank the Louisville city officials and the airport authority for recognizing a Muslim American who become an American icon. Ali’s legacy of athleticism and humanitarianism inspired billions globally. The fact that an American city enthusiastically renamed its airport after Ali, is a testament to the impact he had not only as an athlete, but a social justice champion who changed the way Americans think about issues.

Muhammad Ali once said his “greatness came and started in Louisville.” Now his name will be among the first things visitors see when they fly into his beloved hometown. Indeed, the new name of the Louisville airport will resonate positively with travelers far and wide.
